A veteran of such classic TV fantasy series as The Invisible Man, The Prisoner, UFO and Dr Who, he also appeared on the big screen in Behemoth the Sea Monster, Burke and Hare, Eat The Rich, The Blue Max, The Naked Runner and many more. Derren continues to pursue a busy career on stage, alongside recent film appearances.
He played opposite Michael Caine and Demi Moore in Michael Radford’s crime drama Flawless (2007), a film appropriately set in Darren’s heyday of London in 1960, when he was seldom off television or cinema screens.
A consummate screen villain, he played one of his few sympathetic roles in Hammer’s Sword of Sherwood Forest. However, his speciality of playing sinister nasties was never better illustrated than his portrayal of the very unsympathetic Nazi Major Von Hapen almost got the better of Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood in Where Eagles Dare.
